The earliest thing we can see, even with transvaginal ultrasound, is the gestational sac within the uterus at week 4. You are not able to see a fetal pole until about week 6.
"The gestational sac is the earliest sonographic finding in pregnancy....While a gestational sac is sometimes seen as early as during the 4th week of gestation, it may not be seen until the end of the 5th week, when the serum HCG levels have risen to 1000-1500 mIU.....A mass of fetal cells, separate from the yolk sac, first becomes apparent on transvaginal ultrasound just after the 6th week of gestation."

The gestational sac looks like a round black circle within the uterine cavity. Usually an ultrasound is only done this early when the mother is experiencing pain. We can make sure the gestational sac is developing within the uterus, rather than the Fallopian tubes (an ectopic pregnancy).

A bean and a bubble!! The bean will be the baby and the bubble will be the egg sac (kind of like the yolk of an egg that supports the baby until the placenta grows in). It's not really an exciting time to be taking a peek...but it's something you'll remember for a long time. It's the first time you will ever lay your eyes on your child...even if it doesn't look it - it's your very own miracle!! Congrats and good luck new daddy!!

Not much just yet! At this stage, the embryo is VERY tiny - less than a half inch. Your doctor or the ultrasound tech may be able to see the embryo, but even that's not a foregone conclusion. The heart will probably not be able to be seen at all; six weeks is better for that.

Not a whole lot. Usually you don't know you are pregnant at that stage. The hormone is not very strong yet. You are definitely not getting ultrasounds already. Are you sure she is pregnant and that the gestational age is correct?

nothing worth straining your eyes for, it will only be the smallest dot, think about it like this. The length of your pregnancy is from the first day of your last period, you ovualte 14-16 days later so techically your wife is really only about 2 weeks pregnant 3 at the most

A tiny little dot/bean like thing, in a bubble. Nothing too special. Most OB/GYN's don't usually have you come in until you're 8 weeks along anyway...But yeah.

Is it really necessary to see at this stage? When you or me were at the womb of our mother whether such test were carried out? Better you consult a Doctor in this issue and he will guide you for the sake of the baby yet to born
