Wouldn't it be better if everyone was paid the same?

Not all the rich work hard for their money. Not everyone can be anything. Not everyone has the skills to succeed. Nobody is "better" than another person. Why give them more money, while others barely have enough to even survive?

Are you guys really that obsessed with money? Money is corrupt. Even if someone's job is considered better to society, why should they be paid more? Self-satisfaction is it's own reward.

That's very idealistic, but are you really suggesting someone who went to school to become an engineer, or a doctor should be paid the same as the guy who hauls away your trash. If everyone were paid the same all that would do is make us all equally poor.

Socialism is BAD.....

Everybody starts off equally (save the handicapped) you get a chance to succeed. Every decision you (and your parents made for you) from the moment you are concieved will either lead you to success or failure.

Some have an easier time than others, true, but that is really irrelevant.

No it would not be better for everybody to be paid the same. Say you and I hauled freight, and I was able to load 6 semis an hour and you were only able to load 4, it would be wrong for us to be paid the same, I did 50% more than you did.

*Edit*

My math is correct, if i do 6 and he/she does 4 I did 50% more which is what I stated, because half of 4 is 2 and 4 +2 = 6.

So, the slacker who's job is to ask "do you want fries with that" that can't even do that job right should be paid the same as the firefighter that puts their life in danger to save others, or the a person that creates a product then markets and devotes them self to that because they believe in it, or the person that went to college to educate and better themselves, or the doctor that spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of their lives training to help others?

Self satisfaction is it's own reward? So, you work for free? You refuse all money offered to you (since you claim it is corrupt, however I would really like to know how something inanimate can be corrupt)?

Both don't deserve it ie lack of it or too much of it.However your suggestion is also not a workable solution. If a group of people are given equal money and checked after a time,we shall find that some have spent all of it,some have managed to live with it and save some and some have been able to earn more and multiplied their money. This individual propensity of dealing with money is also cause of uneven distribution of wealth in any society. Ultimately, it's the availability of equal opportunities for wealth generation which can reduce income gaps or economic disparities. It's not possible to eliminate it except ,may be,for short period of time.

a saying says"if you born poor you will die as poor too,and if you born as rich you will die as a rich too". I think people has their own fame if someone study and work hard they'll harvest blessings more.if you are lazy and unproductive even if you are as rich of george bush money will just fade away from your hand because you don't know how to use it wisely.

if you are poor, and has a family with full of love and you eat 3 times a day what else you should ask for?you should be satisfy. same to those who are rich they have to be happy if they are being love and be love and you eat regularly there's no need to have lots ofd money.Money is just a material thing.

I have to agree with Dudeman....How many times are you going to ask your communist themed questions...adding my opinion: it's like hearing a broken record....

The rich deserve the excess money, because they went to college and was smart enough to achieve high status to become a rich person. They don't sit around like the poor, drinking beer and lying on the corner street waiting for the next handout of pocket change. The concept doesn't work....Your sense of reality is WARPED!

No, because there would no incentive to work hard, excel, make a better product.

That's how you end up with millions of toys covered in lead based paint.

And when is the last time you paid for your groceries with your self satisfaction?

I see you are enjoying having internet and computer service. How can you do that when not everyone in America can afford to have that?

The very computer and internet you are using is here and invented becuase of capitalism. When people benifit from hard work they tend to work harder and strive to do bigger better things.

ALAN C: you need to redo the math class. 4 is not 50% of 6. But your point is valid.

I am guessing you are not taking the lead and giving your money away until you are at poverty level. Lead by example.

No on both accounts.
As Clint Eastwood said in Unforgiven, "Deserve"'s got nothing to do with it.
But I don't think everyone should be paid the same. Some jobs require more skill and training than others, and therefore, should allow for more compensation in pay.

Australia and most western European countries have a minimum wage twice as high as ours, and levy high taxes on the income of the rich. This way, entrepreneurs are motivated to create new businesses, their workers aren't underpaid, and tax revenues pay for social services.
Paying everybody the same would result in a shortage of doctors and many other professionals, since their education is so expensive.
