I am the same way, I rather be up at night. What helps me is warm milk, or just laying in the dark until eventually my mind decides to go to sleep

Calcium is known to help induce good sleep that is why warm milk is recommended but also yogurt is very good. You could also try taking a Melatonin supplement. We produce Melatonin in our bodies naturally. It's a hormone that helps with sleep and wake cycles. Sometimes we don't make enough naturally. You can get it at any health food store. If I feel extra stressed or more awake than usual I will take 1 to 3 tablets about half an hour before bed. It isn't habit forming and there are no side effects. It doesn't work like a sleeping pill but will help you rest more soundly. You may have to take it for awhile to notice a difference, but like I said it isn't addictive and you can stop taking it at anytime. Also it isn't real expensive. Of course ask your Doctor first before taking it. Hope this helps.

A one-time fix would be to take a Benadryl.

If it is longer you need to - try cutting back on sweets or caffeine especially for three hours or more before bed.

Anotehr thing that works is trying to reset your internal clock.. this is best done if you ahve a three day weekend... make your room as dark as possible, turn OFF your alarm clock and for three days in a row go to bed at the exact same time and sleep until you naturally wake up.

Listening to calm music helps me sleep. Drinking tea or a warm bath before I go to bed, especially when it's a chilly night is great too. But I find hearing raindrops the best, so if you can find a soundtrack with forest sounds or listening to the rain fall outside your window (just open it slightly if you can) goes a long way. Or a little yoga, sounds weird but I tried stretching then just relaxing in bed works a bit too.

Your not sleeping because your probably not active enough during the day to sleep well at night. If you use the brain but not the body you wont sleep because your body isnt tired. You need to exercise for at least 30 minutes or more every day and try to be more tired when you go to bed, that should help.

Drink Warm Milk!! haha. I know it sounds really gross but it doesn't taste bad at all. Pour about a coffee cup full put it in the microwave for like a minute and drink away! I used to have bad sleeping problems but I started drinking warm milk and it's never failed me. Try it! You'll barely be able to make it upstairs to your bed afterward. Good luck!

Try taking a hot shower at least 30 minutes before you'd like to go to sleep. They say milk and cookies actually works (although not chocolate, since it has caffeine). Make sure your room is dark, and quiet, with no distractions (like a tv on).Try reading a book in bed...I can feel my eyes getting heavy in about 10 minutes.

You need to get your pattern back. I love to take long hot baths with a candle lit. Think about your day while relaxing. When you emerge you will be light headed and NEED to lay down. Soon you will be fast asleep.
