what kind of symptoms do we look for in a baby, if he gets worse. what are the long term effects of this problem. I just assumed he was colicy, because he is sooo fussy, could it be pain from the kidney instead?

let me clairify. He has already been tested for this kidney problem. He does have an enlarged right kidney, test shows urine leaking back up into his kidney. I get 50 different answers from 80 different doctors. In adults symtoms are back and side pain. No one can tell me what this little guy is feeling or what to expect now or long term. if you have any information that can help i would be very thankful.

Has a possibility of pyelonephritis of enlarged kidney been confirmed, or did you find this on the web??... Before writing a baby's behavior off as "colic," as so many do, you should check with your pediatrician. Parent's gut feeling are usually rather accurate. If you think it may be something more serious than colic, schedule an appointment with your practitioner and have your baby checked out. His/her well-being is obviously very worth it. Good luck!

It's safe to assume that your child will be feeling the same pain and discomfort that an adult with the same condition would feel. Just because he's tiny doesn't mean it's not hurting. Don't get discouraged by doctors giving you different answers. It's harder working with very young children because they're not able to tell you where it hurts and what their feeling. Good luck, I hope everything works out for your son.

Kidney problems could be very serious and life long! Get that checked and have second opinions on everything!! The last thing you want is your child to go thru dialysis and treatments for his whole life.

Urine or blood leaking into a kidney is rare and very serious if it is leaking back into it. This is time for you to take your child to the E.R. now.

This is something that you need to discuss with a specialist.
