I'm just curious. I lost my mucus plug a few days ago, and my doctors are planning on inducing me in a few days if my labour hasnt started....today at the hospital the nurse told me and my husband to try having sex to start labour, but I thought that was bad to do after losing your mucus plug??? Anyone know the answer, because we're willing to try anything but I dont want to if its going to hurt baby?

And, if it is okay to have sex, what position would be the safest?....I'm sorry for too much info, I'm really curious though and need help.

You can have sex after you lose your mucus plug, however you can not have sex after your water breaks but up until then its prefectly fine

If you were having a high risk pregnancy or had weeks before the baby was due you would be right that having sex would not be a good thing. But you are 'to term' and trying to start labor and having an orgasim is one way to do it. At this point having full penitration sex may be a little hard but if your husband is carfull it can be done (and be very enjoiable too). If he or you are still a little fearfull you could just have non-clotial sex (heavy petting to orgasim).
I can tell you that it can work and it sure beats having an induced labor. I had one of those with my first kid. It was long and painfull because I couldn't get any sleep in the hospital.
I hope this helps you and let me tell you kids are a real fun trip.

You can still have sex if your mucus plug has come out. It is just if your water breaks you can NOT have sex. I heard sex works and I will be trying it again soon. My husband and I did it a few days ago and it just caused a lot of cramping throughout the day but we will try again and see what happens LOL. I have to say though, for me it was very uncomfortable!!

My mucus plug was gone about two weeks before my baby was born. I had sex with my husband three times in the twenty four hours before my baby was born. Did it help- heck ya! Position- whatever is most comfortable for you!
Good luck and congratulations!

It should be fine and it won't hurt the baby. Just try not to be so rough. Also, try walking around the neighborhood because that can help induce labor.

I don't think it will hurt your baby, as long as you are not dilated. It might be safer just to go on a really long walk, just to be safe :) Good Luck!

YES!!! You are right, the ''plug'' is the barrier, my doc said the same thing, that's how I know that you are right, he said that there is a chance for infection....sorry and good luck and congrats
