If it's not one thing being recalled, its another. Pet food to lettuce, then to toys painted with lead paint, and now this. What is going on? How does a company not realize that they've coated a toy with lead paint, or in this case a toxic drug? Or do they not care anymore?

Where is this world headed?

It's not coated with GHB. When it's mixed with gastric juices, the chemical that makes the beads stick together forms GHB in the stomach. It's a chemical reaction.

First of all, @ Joseph II: You and the rest of the Clintonites need to find someone with a good powerful winch to extract your heads from your collective posterior. Why is everything Bush's fault? (and don't get me wrong, I think he's a dimwit too, but give me Bush ANY day over Billy boy or god forbid Hillary). Do you not know your history son? Your beloved Billy boy is the one who signed China into permanent normal trade status with the US (which led to them being signed into the WTO). This not only cost millions of American jobs and more than doubled the trade deficit with China, but can be DIRECTLY attributed to the recalls that we are seeing today, 7 years later.

Its not the 'companies' (Mattel, Fisher-Price, etc) that specify or allow these hazardous materials to be used. It is the Chinese MANUFACTURING PLANT that sometimes unscrupulously substitutes these materials due to either a short supply of the design specified paint/chemical/etc, or a need to cut costs (which is the more realistic motive). Say the plant manager needs to increase the profit margin so he can make his 19 cents per hour per worker payroll. He finds a supply of old lead paint for a fraction of what the specified paint costs, and uses it to cut the paint or substitutes it completely. Same with the chemical coating for the Aquadots. The design spec did not call for a toxic chemical, but it was probably cheaper for the plant to obtain. I would not be surprised in the least if there was a supply of "Design spec" product that was kept aside to provide for inspectors/buyers/etc, so as to not let on to what was going on.

And as I said, all this can be directly linked to the fact that China has been granted permanent trade status, and no longer has to be reviewed annually. Also GLARINGLY lacking from their trade agreement was ANY conditions that would end labor repression and poor/hazardous working conditions.

So before you go on a crusade of "SUE THE COMPANIES ITS THEIR FAULT!", and "ITS THE GUY IN OFFICE'S FAULT", do a little research and use some brainpower, and find out what is REALLY going on.

Is it time to Boycott China products? They are giving us tainted products that are affecting people and pets. It seems like everything you see at your local Wal-Mart comes from China!

I think the company who did this DID know it was tainted with lead paint and now coated with a chemical in date-rape drugs. This doesn't surprise me one bit that the toys came from China. I think we should stop buying stuff from China and start buying our own 'Made in USA' products instead, so maybe China will get the hint that we Americans do not tolerate this type of corruption and hopefully our US Government Safety officials will do something about it.

I think we all know where the world is headed, since its been headed that way for a long while now. Everyone is so self absorbed now days that it seems that no one even cares about each other.....every one is just out to further their own careers, and pocket books, and are willing to step on anyone they can just to get to the top....if everyone just cared for each other a little more, the world wouldnt be in such a pathetic state!

It is all about Big Corporations making Big Money off of the little guy.
Nothing about public safety .. just a good think none of those children died. However, the company might find some pretty hefty law suits against them anyway.

It is disgusting .. that is for sure!

It makes you very pliable and easy to take advantage of. There are date rape sticks to quickly detect the chemical in any beverage.

It certainly DOES seem that Paranoia is spreading across the Land..! Methinks it has something to do with Bush always warning us about "National Security"- & terrorists being "all over the place..." Personally, I'll feel a lot more "Secure" when He's GONE- & we get someone in the White House who knows what She's doing... (Oops!- Did I say, "She" ? :) ).
