As long as you get a new one you should be ok..
The newest Xbox 360s have a new CPU called Falcon which runs cooler than the CPU in older Xbox 360s.. Also, all the Xboxes built in the past few months have a new heat sink configuration which reduces heat as well.. all of this should greatly reduce your chances of getting the RRoD..
The green quadrants on the Xbox 360 start button only show how many controllers you have connected to your Xbox 360.. they don't represent any sort of system load or temperature or anything..

Microsoft don't really know what the red ring of death is. It's called a general hardware failure in technical terms because multiple systems are failing at once. That isn't an easy problem to fix and I don't think a few new parts will do it. I've heard of the Elites getting the RROD so the new ones must still get it. There's a 3 year warranty for it now so if you want to risk it I suppose at least you've got that.

the final answer is: "New thermal paste" and "Tighten GPU" (notice: 3 pink jewelry happen while GPU will become loose from overheating) Why? because of the fact: inventory xbox 360 thermal paste sucks, it does not pass a lot warmth. it rather is the layer of paste between the ATI photographs card and the warmth-Sink. (attempt "zalman thermal paste") tightening the screws on the warmth sink will help save the GPU from becoming to be loose. (notice: while the GPU will become too warm, the area expands and bends out of shape, sometimes inflicting the pins to interrupt. determine you tighten the screws preserving the warmth-sink) The elite xbox 360 is not extra desirable then the extra moderen white fashions. the xbox elite makes use of the regular sixty 5 nano pins that gets warm and breaks ordinary. extra moderen 2007 and 2008 fashions have enhancements that help avert 3 jewelry. 2007 fashions has ceramic glue around the GPU that holds it down employer. 2008 fashions makes use of forty 5 nano pins that's thinner and produces much less warmth.

Yep. Its not certain, but there is a chance, too good a chance if you ask me. The above people are living in a fantasy world. MS has not fixed anythin. They have improved it down to the point where it probly shouldn't stop you from buying, but even the new 65nm CPUs are RRoDing. And its the GPU thats causing the heat, and it wont go to 65nm until early 08. So if you want the best chance of no RRoD then wait till Feb or so.

I want the same thing. When your playing your Xbox, look down near the power button every now and then. If there is one green bar, it is cool, and you can keep playing. With two green bars, you may need to take a break. Don't let it get to three bars. Over playing your new Xbox 360 is the key to getting the 3 rings of death. Play it for a while, and then take a break and go on the computer or something. Good luck.

Just get one!!!! Its not even worth worrying about if it is gonna break or not. As they have said above the new ones have the better chip in them so they are more reliable and your only gonna have a problem with an older one if your in the unlucky 30%, and even if you do have a problem you will be covered by a 3 year warrenty........its all good :)
