My son was born a bit early, at 35 weeks. He was pretty physically healthy since he wasn't terribly premature. But I always worried about that too. My biggest thing was that he had to stay in the hospital (away from mom and dad--all alone) for a while. I worried about bonding issues and such. It would be a good area of research in my opinion. I haven't heard about a connection. On the other hand, thank God that we now have the medical technology to do this. Very good question.

It depends on how early the child is born.
Sometimes a child can have deformities or brain damage and certain diseases may be caused by being born prematurely.

On some occasions the child is absolutely fine and in some instances doctors encourage premature birth.
If you were in a car accident a couple weeks before your due date, they may tell you it would be safer to induce labor.

There are many risks with having a premature baby. Any baby can be traumatized by circumstances being born. Premies are just more fragile.
