I had used my jump drive to transfer microtype from my school's computer to mine and since then i've been getting these weird icons called "photothumb" in my computer and it's icon picture is a gear. Is it a virus?
How can i get rid of it? i got rid of that microtype software
i'm scanning my computer and so far there is no viruses detected. How can i stop them from appearing?
I deleted all of them and they still appear.

It is NOT a virus. It a way for your computer to easily bring up the thumbnail version of your photos. It is usually not seen as it is a hidden file. You can make them disappear by changing the option in this menu:

Open MyComputer
Press ALT T
Go to Folder Options
Click on tab that says "View"
There should be a spot that says "Hidden Files and Folders"
Click on dot next to Do Not Show
That should make sure that the computer doesn't show that file anymore.

a THUMB is a small shrunken down version of the photo so you can easily identify it. It is NOT a virus or any other kind of threat. Click on the thumb to see a LARGER version of the picture.
