Well it depends what kind of group it is. If every other word is going to be profanity and they wont approve, maybe not. But I just went to a freakin awesome rock concert and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. But I'm 20 and i no longer require a chaperone. But my point is that concerts are great fun and I think you should go ahead and suck it up with the parents. It's crowded and dark so no one will really notice I don't think. And if they embarrass you, next time you will know to just wait until you can go with friends alone. Go and have a blast! Don't worry so much and don't miss out cause of your parents:-)

When I was young, my parents were really strict and had a rule that we couldn't go to rock concerts until we were in college. Unfortunately, some of the groups that I really loved, and that are now considered the greatest bands of all time, like the Who and Led Zeppelin, broke up before I got to college, so I never got a chance to see them. If you're young, and your parents are willing to take you to a concert, you should just go, and not let them being there bug you. It's embarrassing, but better to get to go to the concert than maybe miss your only chance in life to see your favorite acts.

Not going is worse. What you should do is research the band and its carefully and persuade your parent of the concert's technical merit. Parents have been known to occasionally have a good time at a concert if they can understand the music. It would also be a valuable bonding experience, i.e. a way to "get your parent on your side".

I go to concerts with my parents and Godparents all the time. They are all in there 50s and I really don't care that they are there cause I'm just excited to go and not have to pay for anything. (that's a terrible thing for me to say) We all like the same music so why not enjoy it all together. Concerts are always loud so Its not like you can really talk to them. You will be so into the music you won't even notice they are there. So just go and have a great time!! Have Fun!!

Not going would be worse. Can't you just have a good time and not worry about being seen with your parent? You might find out that your parent is not the uncool stick in the mud you always envisioned them to be! My son is 32 years old, and we still go to concerts together!

It must be not going at all.
I am a parent and my son wanted to go to a "show" at a venue in town. But it was more like a club that plays live music, but adults go too. It's not an under 21 club.
I told him that yes he could go, but only if I or an adult went too.
He said... "Never mind."
So, I thought that A) Must not have REALLY wanted to see that band or B) That would have been WAY too humiliating for him. But I told him that I wouldn't hang out with him there... I would stand in the back or something.
Oh well... I say if you really want to go.... go with your mom or dad. That's awesome that they even said they would take you. I'm sure that there are some kids that would love to be in your shoes!!

My daughters don't mind it when I bring them to concerts. I don't generally hang out with them during the concerts but they like having me there. We just check in with each other from time to time and then agree to meet somewhere when the concert is over.

i'm 27 now and still go to shows with my 55 year old dad.
we mostly just go to club shows at the magic stick in detroit. we are both tired of big big venue shows at arenas and stadiums.
dude, parents can be really cool.
my dad is probably cooler than me, knows his music and appreciates great music, especially the small label local detroit bands that are busting their asses touring non stop.
check out some of our favorite bands
the hard lessons
blanche
tone and niche
outrageous cherry
saturday looks good to me
brendan benson
the muggs
the sights
the dirtbombs
the detroit cobras
any dad cool enough to be into good music..............awesome
he could be listening to crap like peter frampton or 80's hair rock.

i think it depends on some things. it depends on your parent and how they will act at the concert, who is in the concert and how much you like them, and if there are other people going with you (like your friends or siblings or anybody) besides just you and one of your parents. personally, i would go with one of my parents to a concert because in my opinion thats way better than not going at all.
