My neighbor accused me of stealing a package (his) that was allegedly left at my door by a DHL delivery guy. I didn't take it so I don't know what to do now. Could it be a scam? Should I sue him for defamation? What should I do?

DHL delivery guys would not leave a package at your door with out you signing something . Sounds like B.S. to me Have the company investigate the matter as they would have records regarding any delivery made . If you find out that the guy is lying , you might have a legal case but you would have to prove that you were " damaged " in some way by the allegations . At any rate if you did not sign for anything you are not responsible for it , tell them to bug off ...

I think you have to show you have suffered some sort of real damage due to his allegation. If you are not employable now because of his statements, if you're wife and dog and dogs wife left you because of it, etc. Otherwise, the guy has to prove you took it. Where I live, if someone accuses you of taking something, and you deny it, you're on your own. They aren't going to come into your house and look for something unless they have some evidence to support the allegation. You probably don't have much to worry about.

Sue your neighbor for oral defamation since his accusation was false.

Mail theft is a criminal, yet you elect evidence she signed for the failings or actually added them in her domicile. i might go away a catch for her. deliver a kit or qualified mail that desires to be signed and notice what happens
