Human nature prevents "true communism" from ever being practiced. He's just using a tautology to salvage his ideal.

Communism presents a major contradiction in its implementation. In essence, your friend is right. However, he might have intended to say that it would work given the right set of circumstances.

Essentially, communism seeks to make everyone equal by destroying social classes.

However, a governing body must exist to impose that equality on everybody else.

By creating that governing body, you create a class that has more power than everybody else, therefore failing to achieve your original objective.

BTW: I do wonder why this question is in the GLBT section...

Marx and Engels foresaw the disappearance of government in the future communist state. In practice, under Lenin, Stalin and Mao the government (the state) became the single most important and powerful entity in society. Obviously, the communist theory was never implemented in practice.

True communism is a utopian ideal, but when practiced in real life, it just doesn't work out....a DYSTOPIA, if you will.

Karl Marx had excellent intentions, I'll say, but like most idealists (including, I'll admit, myself), he failed to be somewhat realistic about what humanity would make it out to become.

I recommend you read "The Big Questions" by Lou Marinoff. It really has nothing to do with communism, but it has a lot to do with human nature, and you'll see why communism could never work out.

Friendship, no it rather is not risky....my contacts only this week helped me turn my head remote from the darkness and in direction of the mild....it rather is not delusional in any respect, yet a fact.

If communism was practiced on a small scale, then it would more than likely work well.

However, it's just not going to work well on highly populated countries, US included.

Perhaps if a village somewhere practiced communism and was getting along well, this would be the example he meant.

He's actually right in a way...only because "True Communism" can ONLY work in a Vacuum. Since NO society is ever void of outside influences, "True Communism" can never work.

They are absolutely right.
Russia is more a dictatorship than true communism.

It means he doesn't want to work for a living and just wants to take what others earn (work for) away from them.

We are all going to regret funding China someday.
