"They cheated" (referring to the winning team) is a classic.

I love this vicious cycle:
- They've been at home and need to go on a roadtrip.
- They're on the road and tired.
- They just returned from their roadtrip and are tired.

JEFF P - Yup, that's Tommy B. I'm hoping that if I pay tribute to him, he'll be like the guardian goaltender spirit over Fleury & Sabourin. Maybe I should set up an alter and get some incense burnin'...

Mine go in order:
>>>I entire league hates this team
>>>"insert players name" looked like crap, we need to trade him
>>>They should have put "insert other goaltenders name" in net
>>>"insert best player on the teams name" 's pocket were sure weighed down tonight
>>>"Well, they are just not good on the road this year, and I heard that arena sucks"
>>>"Did I wear this shirt last time they lost, yeah, I think I did. I am never wearing this shirt on game day again."
>>>"Man, why did you talk to me about stats before a game? You know when we talk about stats before the game, they always lose."
>>>"I can't even watch the post game show. Yeah, yeah, funny, funny Bill {Clement}, you ugly Tom Selleck-wanna-be." That's about the time I pass out, because I drank too much.

First up, Erica, my team (TML) never loses. Sometimes, the refs erronously awards the opposition undeserving goals, giving a distorted impression of the score. This is often influenced by wife bickering about one thing or another, as I'm sure it gets on the ref's nerves as well as mine.
Quite often the Leafs will play a team (Ottawa) that habitually falls down at the slightest opportunity, having our heros penalized unnecessarily, which could in turn, lead to a goal. These goals, while counting on the scoreboard, were then obtained by unsportsmanlike means and do not count in my rationale. If goals scored by this means lead to more goals than were scored by the Leafs, the victory becomes null and void in my standings.
It is therefore a reasonable assumption that the Leafs will go undefeated again this season, leaving excuses to the supporters of lesser talented teams.

You forgot the 4 games in 6 nights excuse or the dreaded back to back games on a road trip.
Also the Kerry Fraser factor. All yu Leafs fans will understand that....or the NHL conspiracy of not allowing a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup....again ask any Leaf fan.
The team stops listening to the coach. Just ask Mike Keenan.
Shall I go on?

It's the ref's fault. I've been a die hard hockey fan since 1982 and there's been a ton of changes since then. Except for one thing. The NHL always has been and still is the worst officiated sport on earth.

the New York Rangers are masters of horrible excuses.
First they lost because they are tired and they played too many games in a week then when they won 2 days later its because they were "refreshed".
They also like the excuse that other teams "get up" for games with them because the are from NY.How the heck do you ever expect to win anything if you cant win becaus ethe other team was "up for it"

Basically when players say something like The better team didn't win tonite and they say things that would lead you to believe that they really believe that they are the better team even though they lost.

(trying to jinx the other team.. or wearing say a certain hat that I wore to a game & that team lost so I try NOT to wear it watching any games.. but i love that hat!!)
