she's going to have to learn herself, i guess... giving unsolicited advice isnt a good idea.

You dont

I have a cousin who's been this way for years.. she's one day older than me (34) and lives in AZ, I'm in CA. Whenever we talk she goes on endlessly about this guy, and why she got ticked off and left him alone for that guy, who turns out to be a loser so she might be thinking about marrying #3, but he doesn't want kids or a job so.... yada yada yada. And that is usually the WHOLE conversation.

It is a self esteem issue that is way beyond what you as a friend can deal with safely!

I bought my cuz this book i read and enjoyed, "Love is Letting Go of Fear" (Jampolski) -- she got offended! Missed the whole point!

I still love her to death, but I have to let her be who she is. And thank goodness for well-needed interruptions from others after a while when she calls.

I think the best way is the most straight forward way: talk to her about it. Don't start off too 'rough' though.
