Family bonds, traditions and staying connected.
Coming from a small family and spending half my childhood at boarding school in Australia make me so envious of the close family bonds that Egyptians have. I have it in my life now, but I just wish i had also experienced a family life like this when I was growing up.
Keeping up all those family traditions, customs and closeness.
I find it can be totally exhausting as much as I love it and each and everyone of them.
Especially as I have a rather large Egyptian family and we try to do a rotation, one week at Babah and Umma's, that's my in laws and then the next week at Salahs sisters.
Then the next week it is our turn, then it is his younger brothers house with the new baby.
In between we fit in visits to both his grandparents and special elderly Uncles and Aunts.
Its like being on a family merry-go round and it has been hard the last few weeks as we have also had to attend a three day wedding here in Luxor and another in Aswan.
Trying to fit it all in as well as working and having my final exams I'm feeling like a total wreck at present.
But I would not trade my life and family for anything.

So, I am totally with you Shalfat.

The one I most appreciate and think no other nation has it as we do or to the degree we have is great willingness to help others without knowing them, I'm sure every one of us has watched, once at least, some people giving help to someone, in any way, just for he needed it, even without asking for it, on the other contrary for the same situation in a western country for example, people may just stand and "watch" what is happening.

And the one I most dislike is their negativeness towards major issues like political life in Egypt and giving their full care to less important things and making these things their life or death issues like caring about football which is important but not to be given all this amount of care.

We are a unique nation anyway!!

I appreciate family bonds, making favours for others (though its not common anymore), helping out someone in need, hospitality to non Egyptian and making them feel comfortable, and our pride. We're not a prefect country and we can talk badly about, yet wouldn't tolerate any non Egyptian talking badly about Egypt.

I don't like the fact tat people's opinion is more important than religion, the concept of marriage, dowry, wedding, house, furniture..etc and how people will view all this, which is nonsense, because you cant please all people anyway.
Sometimes we're passive and let others take advantage of us.

i like the respect of the young towards the elderly, esp parents and grannies.
i like the spirit of helping, guiding, supporting others, even strangers in the streets.
i like the generosity of egyptians .
i like the religious faith that fills the hearts of egyptians, and guides their behaviour.
what is most annoying is the noise they make , the crowds they create, the dirt they leave behind them , the swearing they utter, the lies thay say to cover up something, the zawaghan from work or study, the bad treatment of men towards their wives or children in low classes. and the gossip they like.

Most Egyptians are Sunni Muslim. That SHOULD be a word to the wise. You better learn a bit about Muslim men, who are NOTORIOUS flirts online and seek out foreign women to marry as a means of gettting the Hell out of poverty stricken Egypt. Online Dating may lead to Paradise, but more often than not will lead straight to Hell. Avoid it.

Appreciate the most is strong family relationship.

most annoying (but I don't hate it) is when having dinner at someones place he keeps dumping food in your plate even if you scream refusing. I like this custom because it represent generosity but it is really annoying. especially that I don't like to leave food in my plate.
