One thought-- it's her money to do with it what she wants.
Others say-- here's where she made her fortune, you take care of home first.
What do you think?

The poorest person in American is wealthy compared to the way some of those girls live. Im America there is always a chance of the American Dream. Not so in Africa!

PS

Did we criticize Madonna for adopting an African boy or Brad and Angie for adopting overseas?

I think Oprah helps everyone! She's very generous! But I understand what you are saying. For some reason they seem to make a bigger deal when she helps the kids in Africa & not when she helps those here...but she does.

Oprah can do whatever she wants with her money

She has done soo much here, and has taken care of so

many in America, why not help her roots also?

I would help my wife's roots in Puerto Rico and Philippines

after I'd help here first.

People should do their homework before making a snap judgment. I don't know how much she has contributed here or abroad. But I do know that it's all good and am thankful that someone like her is around.

Anyway, she built the school to fulfill a promise to Nelson Mandela. She spends alot for her friends.

though they are needy people here, the government tries to assist as many as possible. Plus, it's easy to find a job here (of course, i'm not talking about a qualified position). But in Africa, there is little government assistance, if any, to the needy and no jobs. that's pretty tough, don't you think?

The situation is Africa is worse than it is in US, she's just helping out where she thinks they need it more than any other places.

If everyone takes care of home first, countries like Africa would never get any help as they has do depends on wealthier nations

Oprah does a lot of good, but I think it is also an ego thing, opening a school she named after herself. She could have done it anonymously.

I'm really torn on this . . . There are people here that do need help and also have plenty of help and a lot of those that really take advantage. But there is help needed everywhere. Its her money. . . she should do as she pleases. I should add that I think she gives plenty here too.

She should be able to do what she wants with it. At least she's being giving rather than being greedy and keeping it all for herself. I don't see why its anyone else's business what she does with the money she made. No matter what her decision is, there will always be someone who has a problem with it.

Personally, I am all about home first. But it is her money to do with what she wants. She has done so much here, I guess she wants to spread the wealth. I would hate anyone telling me where to spend my money....If I had any LOL
