I would make a deal with the electric company that I pay $100 now and the rest on the next check and then I would use the other $100 to buy food.

Pay the electric bill. Its too cold outside at night without heat and cold showers are horrible. If you didn't pay your electric bill you wouldn't be able to cook or keep any food in the refrigerator so you'd pretty much be eating PopTarts and cold cereal (no milk) anyway. Plus, you'd stink since you can't wash any clothes at home (I hate laundromats). You're alarm clock won't go off so you'll get fired from your job for oversleeping (or because you're clothes stink...lol), and God forbid you had an emergency. With no power, you couldn't call 911. You can always scrounge change to buy something to eat but without electric, you'd be a frozen, smelly mess.

You can either get a payday loan, ask a close relative or friend. If not, pay what you can, and use the rest of the money for your food.
or do this go stay with a relative or friend. Let the electric company know you will pay them as much as you can, if they don't excpet that stay with that relative and friend until you get paid next week to pay electric bill. You have to eat, so you can have the energy and nutients to work to pay your bills, but you will still pay it

half and half, make a deal with the electric company, and pay half the bill, then buy groceries...shop for items on sale, eat sandwiches and soup, get creative with "cheaper" item foods like dont have a steak every night, make spaghetti, it can be used for dinner one night, lunch the next, make a pot of chili, a pot of soup and have crusty bread and a salad wth it, you can do it ! If the elec company wont deal, perhaps you can get groceries from your local church to tide you over for a few weeks, than budget, its done all the time. Cut down on your electricity, use only lights on in the room your in, do laundry for the items you need, you dont need to wash all your clothes every day after one use, hang them back up or re-iron. make what you have go father, like...drink more water, less milk, its better for you anyway, or save the milk for the kids, YOU drink water. Oatmeal is economical, make breakfast, cookies, add it to your meatloaf as a healthy filler and stretch your hamburger, Save on Gas for the car by driving less, walking more, carpooling. get creative, THINK.

DO BOTH: First - call the electric company and set up a payment plan that you can pay part of it now and the rest in two weeks (they usually agree to that, they don't want you without electricity either). And then you can also get food.

You have to eat, that's a given. Call the electric company and ask if you can pay $5-$10 on your bill. Call your county office and find out about programs to assist low income families with their electric bill.

1. Call the electric company and work out a payment plan and give them $100.00 until next payday.
2. Call the local church/food bank and get enough to supplement the $100 I have for food for two weeks, since I have two teen boys with bottomless pits for stomachs........

Call them and set up a payment arrangement. you can also go an a fixed payment plat that will keep your bill the same each month. If you go on this plan you will not have to pay the current bill as it will be put in the plan. In Calif. anyway I just did it and it saved me a Lot of money.
