Moorman: You found a loophole. For those with children and grandchildren what's your proudest moment. := )

Stella: Yes it's hard for one to give their own personal proud moment once children or grandchildren are in your lives isn't it?

screw it ! I am not going to sit here and say the proudest moments of my life are someone elses doings...grandkids, kids, etc..that is their life to be proud of.
I think the stupidest and proudest thing I have ever done was to leave port in a 40 foot boat I had rebuilt, from keel up, stem to stern, (having only instinct to rebuild the boat) and NOT know one thing about navigation. But nautical mile by naugtical mile, I figured out what red and green markers meant, what flashing lights on bouys meant, and how to get from point a to point b was....and I did this by leaving port in Washington DC, to go to the heart of the Caribbean. And, I did it with pin point accuracy! IT was amazing that all that algebra I learned so long ago was applicable to navigaton..off set of currents (vector analysis), charts ( looked like a bunch of scribbles to me, but along the way, I figured out what dead reconing was, how to calibrate a compass to within 1 degree, who to steer to a compass setting for x amount of time, then turn to n degree for x amount of time...all I needed was to know how fast the boat would go, given head currents, tail currents, cross drift, etc. I had no books (probably wouldn't have read them had I had them), but taught myself how to do it with great accuracy...I didn't see land for 5 days, but I was busy with my calulator, and guess what! with no course correction I ended up at a tiny island called the Grand Cayman, having left Key West days before. I am not going to say that I always felt I was right, but once you start out on path, there is no one to ask questions from so you are on your own....and I did it, and got back. By the time I had done this a couple of times, I was an expert at sea navigation...and then they come out with electronic devices that any idiot could follow...but in the meantime, I did it! By myself. And of that one, I am proud as hell! And yes, My kids did/do well, my grandson is ....adorable for a kid (i have never learned that "love kids" stuff..I prefer them when they become baby adults..sorry for the truth...but all these things they do are things for them to be proud of. I will not take credit for accidents my wife and I made in bed so long ago (does anyone acutally plan on kids?)
Love and peace, Phil

My proudest would have to be the day a neighbor observed, while talking with a mutual friend, "That John sure has changed". This happened about six months after I started serving the Lord.

Second proudest is a tie between walking my daughters down the aisle.

Next would be the birth of my first grand and then just recently when my youngest daughter called and told me I am going to be a great grand father in just a few months.

Hmmm. That's a tough one! I can't say there is one proud moment that stands out above the rest. It's just all the little things that I've done that bring people a smile, a laugh or that make their lives easier somehow. I just love to hear people laugh! If I can make someone's day better, I just made myself proud. How 'bout you Wicky? What's your proudest moment?

yuo mean as in personally for something I did? When I got my pilots license is one, Another is when the first article I ever wrote as a Journalist landed on the front page - a whole half a page, of the newspaper. It would be a toss up between those two. Thats all I can think of other than scholastic achievements

Oh, Wickwire, its not easy when you have to leave your kids out of the equation! I guess, having an article published in the newspaper was a big one for me. I'd been trying for years to get something published, so that meant a lot to me.

When one of sons, at age 34, got clean and sober....earned his GED, enrolled in a tech school....and is going even further with his education even still.

Watched him struggle for what came so easily for his brothers when they were younger, and I'm extremely proud of him!

Wow, wickwire, I love your questions. I would have to say when I completed this 5 by 5ft painting in only three days. It was for a highschool art seminar; everyone was blown away by it. I only had 3 days to do it and I was so proud of myself!!!

2 proud moments.

1. Day I graduated from Army Basic Training.

2. Day I retired from the Army I looked up and said "Mom I hope you are happy" as she had told me when I decided to enlist, "You need to think about making a career of it".
