Think of a power supply like a car engine. Let's pretend your car engine can produce 500 Horsepower. You know that the car engine produces more power the harder you push on the gas pedal, but it's not producing 500 HP all the time. It only produces as much as it needs to make the car go, based on your demand (how hard you press on the gas).

A power supply is the same. It is -capable- of producing 600 Watts for your computer, but only what is needed will be drawn from the power supply. For example, if you are playing a graphics and sound-intensive game that reads a lot of data from the hard drive, you'll be consuming a lot more power than if the computer is just sitting at the Windows desktop with no programs running.

If you leave your computer on overnight while you are downloading something, as an example, you will only draw about 100 Watts maximum., which over an eight hour night will add up to a little less than one kilowatt, which will increase the electric bill between 3 and 10 cents, on average. Turn off your monitor, though, as it can take as much as another 100 Watts!

power supplies dont work like that. its not like theres a set amount of power you can use. power supplies technically have unlimited power, each power supply differs because of the energy supplied at one time. for example a 600W power supply can power 6x more things than a 100W power supply at one time.

if you left your computer on the entire night, you probably wouldn't have any problems, cept for overheating.

If you activate the sleep mode, the computer may consume less than 20W power.

no,
600w is peak output
if you computer is idle it uses next to nothing when you are playing a video game the wattage could get up there. it all depends on what your system is working with.

Hi. The computer will only draw what it needs.
