You shouldn't use tap water until your Dr advises you to do so. My Dr just told me that I could start using tap water and she is 4 months old. Either use Distilled or the Nursery Water. And yes there is fluoride in tap water plus chemicals the city uses to treat the water if you have city water. We have well water so there isn't much concern about the harsh chemicals.

ALWAYS use bottled water...you never know what else can be found in common tap water. There could be lead or things other then fluoride and it's not something you want to risk with something so precious to protect.

You should use just plain distilled water. I asked my pediatrician the same thing. I am a dental hygienist and there is concern in communities w/ fluoride in the water because it is causing fluorosis on the kids' teeth. It is like white chalky marks on their permanent teeth. They are recommending not using your fluoridated water for bottles.

In some places there is fluride in the water. As for where I live , we do not. Even if we did I don't think that I would give it to my baby. I have always used the baby water in the gallon. It is not expensive to use considering it is your baby's health that we are talking about. 1 gallon goes along way. My baby is on powdered formula and it last a while.

Boil your tap water for ten minutes, and it should be fine.

Infants before one year of age shouldn't be given flouride added water, check out the links below for more information about that.

I've always been told to boil the water especially at that age.
Yes there is fluroide in our water, there are also other chemicals in it that you don't want your 3 week old baby to have.
I always boil the water for at least 5 minutes then allow it to cool before using the powder formula.
