HR 1955, the so-called "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act" makes it a crime to hold any view which the government decides to claim is extreme.

This piece of legislation is Neo-McCarthyist and is designed to intimidate and oppress opposition groups. It has absolutely nothing to do with "terrorism," but is rather directed entirely against the American people. The Democrats and Republicans alike voted for this piece of crap.

When it was passed by the House, Ron Paul was out of town, but Jeff Flake, Dana Rohrabacher (an Anarcho-Capitalist when he was younger), Neil Abercrombie, Jerry Costello, Dennis Kucinich, and John Duncan voted against it.

It still must be passed by the Senate, so it can still be stopped. What are you doing to stop this evil and Orwellian piece of legislation from ever passing?

Nothing. The law soes NOT make it a crime to hold views the government does not approve of. Read the resolution instead of listening to what idiots like Rush Limbaugh say.

It also specifically PROHIBITS the Department of Homeland Security from interfering in any idoological or political acttivity or speech unless such acts clearly violate the Constitution and/or individual rights.

The only part that has any relevance is the research component. That may be valuable in gaining a better understanding of how and why people are recruited into terrorist organizations.

Otherwise, quite frankly, it's nothing but a puff-piece--it doesn't actually DO anything.The only people I've heard objecting to it are groups like the Ku Klux Klan--which has a long history of terrorist acts and advocating terrorism agaist ethnic and religious minorities. I suppose they're afraid they could be targeted. Which--if they try to actually put any of their hate ideology into practice, they would be--but only to the extent they broke other US laws. They can talk all they want.

Leftists have promoted thought crime legislation for decades(hate crime laws) Of course we should all find these things repellant. Your swipe at Joe McCarthy, who was a true patriot and who worked tirelessly to ferret our communists in our government.
