Studies show that much of our happiness level is genetic.

Unfortunately, I do not have a cute cliched saying for why people should be happy no matter what, or why material comfort and physical health is all a person needs in order to be happy.

What I would like to say is that some people don't require much meaning or understanding in order to be happy. They are fine to just survive and live off of someone else's ideology. They lack the complexity that drives others to question the very purpose of life and forge, through psychological torment, their own, unique meaning and purpose--sort of like and existentialist quest.

People are very different and the most dangerous thing is to be judged by someone else's measuring stick. i.e. How ridiculous is it for someone to walk up to you and tell you that you have no reason to be unhappy when they know nothing (other than superficial things) about you? Some people are happy just to have food and shelter: the basic animal needs. Others need meaning and purpose: psychological needs. Still, others need authentic intimacy and belonging: emotional needs. And the balanced person has all three (in a perfect world).

its all about one's outlook on life. some recognize their being blessed with smaller things while others always seem to take for granted that bigger and better things just happen. to those, when the big things don't appear, they are disappointed and fall into states of depression. i came from a poor family, learned to make a living and live within my means and be happy with what i've been able to earn. my health is good, which keeps me a good positive attitude. sure, i'd love to find a windfall and have the long life to enjoy it in, but i'm not basing my life on it happening. i feel that way too many folks set their goals to where they should be recognized as dreams. most dreams are just that, and can never be practically reached which puts folks into a failed feeling. i do not think it is genetic but rather a lack of sensibility about real life that causes the negative vibes a lot of people give off. hope this makes sense and helps settle your quandry.

I believe it all depends on the journey the person took to get where they are and whatever makes that person happy. People that seem miserable, whos lives are in shambles may still have a positive attitude due to there belief that things will get better. Meanwhile, many people that are well off have focused so hard on becoming finacially wealthy, that they lack purpose. they're lost in their own world of worshipping inanimate objects (such as money, cars, females- for "pimps"). Although they have everything the want and need, they lack happiness because they don't really know what makes them happy. The less fortunate fail to crossover to the upper society because they are doing what makes them happy, regardless of their situation. This is my theory

I cannot fathom the thought of people being born wired for a life of miserable conditions. I fear that much misery comes from poor choices, not necessarily genetic makeup or other circumstances that may present themselves. Good cheer is most definitely a choice made and must be made regardless of circumstantial evidence.

I think that life is like a wheel, theres ups and downs. but some people spend most of their lives at the bottom.

I believe our mind can control our feelings. If you feel miserable and feel sorry about yourself all the time, you'll be miserable too.

If youre happy, good things comes to u

I think many people are just borned CURSED. Maybe paying for something an ancestor did in their life. I know that there is a saying, not sure exactly how it goes, but...
it talks about a family members bad luck is passed on 3 or 4 generations, something like that. I heard it several years ago and made sense.

Not drunk at all, IMO. Nor am I. But yes, I think there are people predisposed to never being happy with their lives, regardless of what life brings them. I've known some very ill people with very optomistic attitudes. I've known perfectly healthy folk who act like they're gonna die any minute.

"Misery Loves Company" is a good saying..because alot of people who feel like something bad is always happening to them..never really want to get out of their misery..so they try to drag people in with them. They dont want to be better or try to get better..because they have been in their rut for so long.

It also has to do with faith. A reason why some people in the hospitols and on their death bed's seem to be better, is because they believe in God, and that he can heal them and make them better. He gives them peace and joy about their circumstances.

I think that each of us suffers in our own ways. The Bible says, "the rain falls on the just and the unjust." We are all going to suffer, but with what attitude and spiritual moorings you face them is your choice. We all have a choice. We may not be able to choose our suffering, but we can change whether the water waters us or drowns us.
