My LEGO robotics team would like to use a picture of the LEGO tiger shark, which you can buy and build, as their logo and put it on their uniforms. Would this be a copyright issue since it was designed by the LEGO company? If you would like to see a picture of it just look up LEGO tiger shark in a search engine.

Yes it would be. But the chance of them catching you would be so remote it really doesn't matter.

Well the way I see it, you're a Lego robotics team, wanting to use a Lego model for a logo, so I really don't see too much of a problem with it. As long as you're on a small-time level (no offense) doing competitions and such there shouldn't be an issue and Lego shouldn't care. But like some of the others said, try to write Lego a letter just to be on the safe side.

Well, Although the book of genesis doesn't mention what the Forbidden fruit was most people believe it to be an apple and said apple (Of doom) symbolizes a number of things (eg Sin and temptation) so why would Christians want to copy right a logo which looks like the forbidden fruit which symbolizes sin. (This also adds to a very large list of evidence that Apple is in fact evil, as it's branding it's products with something that symbolizes sin.......Probably also explains why you feel shame after you shell out £300 for an Iphone) Edit: For the kind people below pointing out that the Fruit wasn't an apple, Read my answer again and again and again until it sinks in. No? Ok, I'll just highlight it "the book of genesis doesn't mention what the Forbidden fruit was" Read that again. "The book of genesis doesn't mention what the Forbidden fruit was" Did I said it was an apple? No, Did I say most believe it to be an apple? Yes. Can any of the Bible scholars below tell me which fruit it was? No. Learn to Read. Case Closed. Goodbye. The End.

Yes, it would be a problem. However if you contact the Lego corporation and ask if you can have permission to use it, they may say go ahead.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Hun, Lego would be honored. Contact their corporate office, its free advertising, they would probably sponsor you!

They probably wouldn't sue you because you are not using it for your personal gain. But just to be safe, get their written consent. Just write a letter to them asking for an official signature.
