That's the only ones I buy. How else can a 55 year old woman explain having a 42 year collection of anything Hot Wheels. And fortune smiled on me so far with all grandsons. I hated dollies with a passion.

My living room actually looks like a daycare. I have a large toy box that tucks under the entertainment center. We have a large box of matchbox cars, a mat with roads, a large box of legos and I spend a few afternoons a week sitting in the floor with two to three grandkids playing.
Just this morning I have been planning a trip to Toys R Us today to use the coupons. The aquadoodles look pretty interesting. We can draw our own roads for the cars to travel.
I still love tonka trucks but they aren't what they used to be.
I daydream about my house being spotless but I'll grieve when the toys are outgrown.

hell yes, but of a different nature. My grandkid has 3 sets of grandarents, I live 3ooo miles from him, and each time I visit, I am struck by the walls of toys this lovely guy has. Believe it or not , he is not spoiled (so far) and is a nut when it comes to all thing acedemic and sports..so what the hell could I buy him? NOTHING! but he and I share one basic thing in common, probalby geneitc. DEAD GREEN PRESIDENTS....I just love them, and so does he....so I let the other grandparents buy him this , that, whatever...but along comes my tiny little gift of a package of 100 one dollar bills! HE will spend hours counting each and everyone of them ( is there a better math method to learning how to cound, divide, multiply, etc.?) I have taught him at 8 years old to save a certainl amount of money with each incoming load, to set aside x amount of just fun things for his use, to set aside a certain amount to buy his mother gifts without asking for money to do so. And guess what present he talks about? Yep, you guessed it. Grandpa may have only one value in the kids life, but let's admit it...banker are the only sure bet as to future need in life! I have his college fund on it way big time, and I take good care of his mother if she has an emergency...she lives week to week, and I will not allow her to go without when a car breaks down, when her costs exceed her income..and she is frugal as hell. So, my ex-daughter in law is my number one project, for I have never seen a mother who takes care of her child as well as she has..he has not a concieted bone in his body, yet he is as good looking as they come, he is just a very real little boy who has so damned much energy I can't keep up. I am the only one in the family crazy enough to take him go carting when I come to town, so that knocks out about 4 hours of time right there...and he loves to beat me at minature golf..so what more can I give him. There will come a day when he will turn to me, I am sure, for I suspect I am the one he will need the most care from, the most advice from...and I have no idea why I know this, but I do. I suspect he is my last project in this lifetime...and when he is on his way, I suspect I wll be also...and that is fine. I have no idea, but I know this is the grand plan for my final years, so I will be here until I am no longer needed...then it is off to the next adventure, whatever that may be. Love and peace to all, Goldwing

Besides Home depot, Toys R Us is my favorite hangout. Take my son there quite often, and yes, we get stuff for him that I enjoy too. I don't want to grow up if it means not having toys. I have a really cool collection of dragons from that store too.

Oh yes, I've bought things for my kids and for my grand nieces and grand nephews because I like to play with the toy. Legos, 'band in a box', balls, frisbees, science and nature kits....some things I've yet to outgrow.

I keep bubbles with accessories and sidewalk chalk on my front porch, the neighborhood kids and I use them...:)

Of course not. That would be childish.

Which has nothing at all to do with the fact that I've bought every "Captain Jack Sparrow" action figure in existence, and simply haven't gotten around to giving them away...

...yet.

Oh hell, let the kiddies get an after-kindergarten job and buy stuff for themselves!

Yes, I have a real cute doll house that I bought for the grand kids. Every time I go to the store I buy new stuff for it. I also have a tiny tea set that we have tea parties with when they come. I am such a sucker. lol

I used to shop at Toys-R-Us frequently. However, I have no children and/or grandchildren.

I have bought, over the years, building blocks, jigsaw puzzles, Barbie stuff, Lincoln logs, tinker toys. BUT, I bought them for myself (Ha!) If anybody at the stores asked me about them, I would indicate they were "for my nephews and/or niece," but, I would take them home, open them up, and play with them myself as my nephews and niece were nowhere near where I lived... And, I wanted the stuff for myself anyhow.

I still have my Barbie dolls, and I crochet and/or sew clothes for them frequently.

(59 next month.)

Chevron Cars for my grandsons.
Barbie dolls for the granddaughters when they were younger.
The girls still have the dolls and I keep adding to the car collection every year. I like the cars so much that I kept a couple for myself. ( I also like the Hot Wheels, probably from having three sons who loved them, too.)

Years ago my mom told me that when buying gifts for someone, buy them something that you would enjoy receiving.

So, I did that for my kids (still do) and now for my grand kids.

Puzzles, books, models, scientific experimental thingies, videos and video games.

But mostly, as far as the grand kids go now, to play together with them.

(I like to reward them with those weirdo Susan B. Anthony coins, too).
