I've already cut down on driving and only move my car once a week in order to keep it functional. I haven't had to fill my tank since August. :)

I for one think it's about time the US got the same gas prices as everyone else, we've been up there for quite some time. The increase in gas prices will lead to more efficient cars in the US to counter the price raise. If it's any comfort the US greenhouse gas emission cut target is still really weak compared to other comparable countries/regions because they spent the last 8 years ignoring the climate change issue. With the current target, the US will in 2020 be back down to 1990 emission levels, while the EU are debating aiming for 20, 30 or 40% below their 1990 emissions. They worked on their emissions between 1995 and 2012 so it's not a completely fair comparision (and I think 20% is too weak by them), but it's not surprising other countries in the world are still dissatisfied with the current US target. Edit: As far as the lower class workers, minorities and women goes, (I think you mean people with a low income in general) it's easy to give those people who need it subsidies. Redistributing wealth is a basic part of politics. I used to live 14 km from the nearest town, I know how it feels like to depend on a car. It's managable though, even with higher gas prices.

We cut back driving when gas went to 3 dollars a gallon. We drive a car not a SUV. It is a shame to see a big vehicle with only 1 person in it.

It already is a hundred bucks a barrel.
However, the only change that I'd make is that I'd try to plan my stops. But it's not going to stop me from driving. I have disabled folk in my household, so I'm not going to be pushing a wheelchair everywhere I go.

I can not walk to work, work is like 25mins from my house so there is no possible way to get there other than my car. I would have to cut back on driving places on my day's off and try to get all my running done on one day.

If gas goes any higher I will have to hop on one of my neighbor's horses and ride it to work. The only other option is walking and I don't think I have enough hours in the day to walk eighty miles a day.(school & work)
