Note that i did not say "submissive", as i don't think that being a homemaker is any less important than the guy who goes out and works.
It seems like instead of asking to be treated as equals, some women want to be men. ? My mom is a homemaker and she often says that although she is happy to do it, some people treat her as if she is "just" a housewife and less important. Okay, okay...women should have the choice to go out and work just as men can be the homemaker, but I don't know why people discriminate against the traditional female role?

Gender role is defined by society and society has nothing to do on how we define ourselves because at the end of the day we are just plainly ourselves. A female can be anyone she wants herself to be, provided that she never forgets her responsibility and priorities in life. People are just plainly people, they are guided by their own perspectives. For as long as you know yourself , well, everything is just plainly baseless comment..thereyago

I don't have anything against the traditional homemaker role. It's not me (I can't cook, I don't want to clean and no one in their right mind would leave kids under my care) but I respect people's decisions. Being a homemaker is a career. I read a few years ago that a Stay-At-Home Mom was the number 1 toughest job in America (Stockbroker was second). It's not my cup of tea to stay home and keep house but I don't think that women who choose to do it are being submissive or old-fashioned or anything.

When women started getting more rights, America became full of feminists who think any traditional womenly role (makeup, beauty, mom, ect) was outdated and primitive. There are still a lot of women who think putting on lipstick means a women is being vain and trying to keep her man (Of course this is entirely untrue because lesbians wear makeup and they obviously don't have a man).

Some women choose to work and some have to.
But the best, most gratifying is that of a Mother at home.
I believe there would be less crime, less delinquents. Less divorces maybe too. I worked part time...and had people say what do you do all day (LOL).
My daughter once said, when she was about 13, she was glad I was home when she got home from school. I think teenagers need us just as much as babies do,
I expect to get alot of thumbs down. Don't care.
There is a difference between needs and wants $$$. We also save money not working.
I worked 1 week for a temp agency and my husband said it was not worth it he had to take us out to eat dinner ! He was an old timer, and appreciated me. He said whatever you do give it your best, even being a housewife.
TO YOU WHO LOOK DOWN AT HOME MAKERS, EVEN US WITH CAREERS, MAYBE YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS !
Other things are so much more important to us than the $$$.

theres nothing wrong with the female role just the worlds idea that they stay has house wife because they are pregant with a child and have to stay home. usually men have more time on there jobs and someone needs too the things at home and since the female is at home most of the time that role of a female as the household member stays ... this is throughtout history.

Well think about it. There are centuries of female suppression that have to be undone.

That's what happens with any group that has been harmed, discriminated against, suppressed, etc. They gain strength, facilitate change, then get all militant for a while.

It will balance itself back out. It's just seen as "giving in to the man" again because of the history.

Probably because most women DON'T have the choice to stay home. Most people can't support a family on one income. Now that they've BEEN breadwinners and have contributed to the family income...it's hard to imagine staying home and relying on a man for money. It DOES seem strange to men who have wives that work...and to the women who work. Sadly, society bases a person's worth on money.

People are stupid. I only wish I could afford the luxury of the more traditional stuff. Many blessings to those who have it, as well as those who don't. Niether person is better or worse. Those are just circumstances, which can change in the blink of an eye and don't define anyone.

Gee if I had a gorgeous loving husband who I love.I would like to make a nice home for him.If I had an attractive loving man I would do everything in my power to not stop him loving me.Only trouble is today there are too many lesbians who do not admire and love there man.If you want to snuggle up to his chest you must work for it,.and that is where I found paradise.

What can you say? Some people want to project their feelings about a thing onto others. To hell with the lot of them. Do what you think is cool and feel good about it. If somebody gives you static smack'em in the head with an iron and stab'em with a pairing knife.

good question. i am a stay at home person, a granny now. i have had one of my kids actually come in and say "what's for dinner woman"?? wooooo boy, if i'd said that to my mom or one of my granny's i'd have been flyin' through the air..lol if you stay at home, you are generally stereotyped as lazy, fat, wearing a fuzzy housecoat, slippers, curlers, eating bonbons (or sloshing down alcohol ) while watching soaps. people in the home stop picking up after themselves as they figure you're there to do it. i think it's due to such a huge shift in society's values and traditions.
