as a true conservative I want low taxes, small govt, a sane immigration policy, cheap energy, and the second amendment protected.

I think that the way my party has been spending our children's wealth is a disappointment, and the way we have handled immigration.

However I feel Hillary will do much more damage with this democratic congress in place.

If you are a true conservative, you should be displeased. The people who are running the Republican Party right now are a bunch of religious extremists who are very pro-corporation and hell-bent on regulating people's private lives. What passes for Republicans now are a far cry than the much more moderate party I remember before Ronald Reagan took office. It was, after all, past Republican administrations that desegregated schools, pushed for environmental protections, and legalized abortion.

I've hated the direction both parties (why even rename Democrats and Republicans "liberals" and "conservatives") have been going ever since the League of Women voters pulled funding for the debates, and the two parties figured out they didn't actually have to do their job anymore, because they were the only game in town.

Senators don't represent people anymore. People represent senators.

Does true conservative really mean Christian Taliban? I hope the evangelical nuts go Democrat, go plague that party.
I don't worship God, I worship western liberal democracy. the founding fathers are my prophets. Theology has no place in our government or any government. Religion is a political tool used to control people. Religion and freedom are two words that don't belong together.
I don't know what a neo-con is, where did that word come from? It came from Democrats and is just an insult to Republicans who are fixing this insane planet once and for all.

I have to say yes. We need to get back to the basic values we had when Ronald Reagan was president. The democrats have also left their roots. Hillary would really send them in a spin if she were to get elected.

Just because someone is a conservative doesn't mean they are married to a particular party. We are not sheep, and do not blindly follow those who claim to be our leaders. Personnally, I feel that some 'neo-cons' are going a bit too far, but that's their problem.

Chi Guy, bro, how goes the war?

Yup, I am displeased. Bush is about as conservative as Hillary.

There are very few 'true' conservatives left in the Republican party these days. They have been so alienated and disgusted by this neo-con takeover that many are now independents.

Neo-conism is a failed experiment that hopefully will eventually lead to many of it's leaders seeing the inside of a jail cell.

The Republican Party must adhere to conservatism in order not to distort the party platform.

The religous right is who I'm displeased with. I am fiscally conservative, could really give a crap about what people do in the privacy of their own homes.
