Some people are uncomfortable and frightened if they cannot control the thoughts and opinions of their partners. They fear what they don't know.

Why do people insist on changing their significant other?

He/she is great, except for this one thing. It really bugs me, but I'll work on him/her and change their basic personality to suite mine.

That doesn't work either, but it's a constant factor in many relationships.

It's really hard to accept someone for exactly who they are.

Others are too accommodating with their SO's. It's really hard for some people to say 'Honey, you are being unreasonable. I'm part of this relationship and I have needs too!'

Fear of losing them.

But really, don't they end up losing them anyway?
