Winning an election is so expensive that candidates need millions of dollars from the wealthy to win. The race for the Presidency should run well over $100 million this time around. Candidates will hear it from the top contributors on any issue that affects them. The rest of us are a distant second.
Obama, Edwards and Ron Paul are receiving millions of dollars from internet campaigns. Maybe this is how candidates can avoid selling out in the future. Unfortunately, and I'm sorry to say it, but, these candidates didn't get this far in their careers from small internet donors. I'm not certain that they haven't already been bought. Still, these 3 seem to have somewhat unique styles, which may indicate that they're cleaner than the other candidates.

Interestingly enough, recently our Government tends to be operating on a crisis basis.
The current crisis of the day is what drives the decision making.
When there is no crisis, the media creates a new one.
It sells newspapers and garners advertising money for the media.
The Politicians LOVE it. They are all greedy for power. Solving a crisis gives them opportunities to spend more tax money and feather the pockets of their friends.
Since MONEY is POWER, they have excuses to increase your taxes. THAT takes YOUR power from you and gives it to them to use as they desire.
Any politician who wants to raise your taxes is a TYRANT.
NEVER vote for anyone who wants to raise taxes.
