r.s., for #2) i get so confused in some math problems, because i feel like i need to find the same denominator and work it out differently... for #3) how did you get 1/6? i have no idea how to work it out..

make the coefficients the same

1.) 9^2 = 9 X 9; 3^4 = 3 X 3 X 3 X 3.
Does that make it clearer?
2.) 3/4 X 2/3 X 2/3 X 2/3
Multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators. Hint - to simplify it, try cancelling out the numerator and denominator when they are the same: 2/5 X 5/8 X 1/2 could be re-written as (2 X 5 X 1) / (5 X 8 X 2), right? Then you could cancel out the 2/2 part and the 5/5 part since they both = 1. What you're left with would be 1/8, right? Check it be doing the full multiplication and see if it matches (= 10/80)
3.) 1/3 X 1/2
Piece of cake, right?
