I don't know, but I don't wear anyone's shoes. Shoes that have already had someone else's feet in them--gross!

People are frightened of death. The feeling is probably that if you wear them you may be next to die. Personally I have no superstitions whatsoever and find them silly. Neither do I believe in 'luck' as a quality. This is something that we ascribe to people who have good or bad things happening to the as we are unable to explain events.

I actually can't find a reference to that superstition anywhere. Try websites based in superstitions(though I doubt you'll have much luck)

If you wear their shoes, then you'll walk into death with them.
Basically, you'll die if you wear them.
