In mitosis, for the size of Metaphase the spindle fibers are cutting-edge branching out from the centrioles, the kinetochore microtubules are related to the kinetochores of the chromosomes, and finnaly the chromosomes are alligned on the metaphase plate

During metaphase chromosomes line up in middle of the cell and spindle fibers attach to centromeres of chromosomes.
