I have seen them repeatedly, usually in groups of five to ten, on my kitchen counter. I think they even infested my coffee maker so I had to get rid of it. No matter how well I clean, they stay. I have set out ant traps and they don't seem to be helping. Tonight I found them in my pet rabbits' veggie dish for the first time, which was my final straw. What can I do about them that will be safe for us and our bunnies? Thanks

They are grease ants and you have to keep it clean and not put out more food than can be eaten at a time. They can even get into a jar of peanut butter so it is hard but keep what you can in the fridge.

Sugar Ants!!! We used to have the problem in the spring, we finally got rid of them by *gasp* poison. First clean under EVERYTHING in the kitchen, make sure there is no food source except for the poison. Then place the poison in areas that are not normally accessible to humans or pets. (Under the microwave, stove, refridgerator) the ants will find it, ingest it, carry it back to the nest and after about a week the ants will be bye-bye. They may show up again next year but eventually they will not find a fun home.

Buy a small bottle of Terro, and follow the instructions for grease ants. But keep it out of the way of your pets. The ants will come and get it, and take it back to their nest and kills the whole nest. So when you see the ants in it, let them have it. You will see lots of ants after it, then in a few days, none.
