Sounds like he is jealous. I have a real distaste for jealousy. See Jealousy is simply a tell tell sign that that person is Untrustworthy.
We can only see any given situation through our own eyes. We look at it and say .."what would I do in that case?" If the situation was someone of the opposite sex was hitting on me.. Would I respond with my significant other in mind or would I accept the advances of this new conquest? If the answer is I would accept the advances and cheat on my significant other, then we can only assume that our significant other would do the same. Therefore we get mad and accuse them of doing what we know we would do.
It sounds funny, but if you think about it.. You will see it is true.
So if he is causing you fights there is probably a good reason to suspect him.
