A sex chromosome is known as gamete.
It has a haploid chromosome number. In other word haploid is a sex cell.

A sex cell has 23 chromosomes.

You men the sperm (gamete) and egg (gamete) are in contact with each other it forms a fertilized egg with 46 chromosomes

A diploid chromosome number is anybut sex cells. A diploid chromosome number is 46.

Just remember diploid - sperm and egg.(23)
and haploid every other cell in your body(46)

Normal human only 2, but there can be genetic disorders in which they may have more or less. Some individuals are confused with the question based on their responses. The female does contain 2 X chromosomes and the male contains an X and a Y. If you would look at a karyotype that is normal, you should see 22 sets of chromosomes that are known as autosome and 2 chromosomes that are known as the sex chromosomes. which will equal to 46 chromosomes....22X2 = 44 +2= 46 chromosomes (diploid).
