I really enjoyed "SiCKO" as well. The only problem I had with it was the depictions of Healthcare in other countries. When he paints such a great picture of those places but doesn't show ANY PROBLEMS, then I just think he's setting us up for easy bubble bursting and charges of glossing over.
When he shows the wealthy British doctor, for example, it would be great if he could acknowledge other less successful doctors as well. Then cap it off by showing that doctors in Great Britian are generally successful, and that people still want to be doctors in Great Britian.
Instead of just showing a successful family in France (and under French Taxation) show some other families as well, some not as successful. Then end the segment by showing that the French are generally comfortable, maybe show how comfortable they are compared to Americans (a little better, a little worse, that sort of thing.)
Of course, I'm not a documentary film maker, and those suggestions might make for a really boring movie. But it would be easier to defend and quote him if he did that.

I watched SiCKO this evening and I am completely disgusted at the health care system in the USA. As a citizen of the UK I have full access to the NHS and have no complaints about it. The only thing I have ever had to pay for was a yellow fever inoculation (£40) to allow me to go to Ethiopia as it wasn't covered by the NHS (not surprisingly! how many people do you think have it done?!). I have been able to see a doctor the same day I make an appointment (although once I had to wait 2 hours in the A&E department to get my foot x-rayed, poor me, but there had been a major collision earlier that they and they were a bit back-logged!) Feel free to emigrate to the UK! We'll keep you healthy for free! :D
hmmmmmm...... global warming..... good idea, but I leaning more towards a film about poverty and the quality of aid given by certain governments as his next project. Anyway, bravo Michael Moore!!!!!!! (p.s, I love 'Bowling for Columbine'! It is definately one of my favourite films!!!!!)

that is an excellent question/remark. on the instantaneous changed into the first time I got here to this component to Yahoo solutions, and the first 20 questions gave the impression to be slamming one motive force or yet another. I absolutely have purely been a NASCAR fan for extra or less 5 years, and changed into hoping to get extra "understanding" right here, notwithstanding it style of feels to be all hate. And, I absolutely have some that drivers that i don't like, yet that is basically about too a lot! i'm a Stewart fan, yet inclusive of his success being so undesirable this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, I absolutely were heard cheering for Jr. and for Newman at the same time as Tony has no threat of ending the race. wish you do not evaluate me a "undesirable fan" for that. i wish that you do not go away, i think like i ought to get good information from you and also you seem a relaxed and sensible human being! thanks for giving me a threat to say that, because before I were given on your question, i changed into waiting to leave this section and take my Q's & A's another position!

There are more informed points of view out there that really compare the different systems, instead of a "documentary" with clever editing, that only shows the negatives.
I'm not saying that our system is the greatest or that we shouldn't look to other healthcare systems for guidence, just that I wouldn't take Michael Moore's documentary as a fact. Remember that Michael Moore edits these videos to show only his points of view (and of course make alot of money).

There are plenty of things to complain about in the US health care system. And other places are different. But are they better? That's a tough one to evaluate. Try out another country, then report back after a year or two and let us know if it's better, worse, or a little of both.

Before you jump on your high horse answer one question. Name one thing the Government runs with screwing up. The government, sooner or later, screws up everything they touch. If you honestly think that socialized medicine is the answer, convince me. I deal with government sponsored health care everyday and it sucks. As a parent I'm not permitted to make decisions about my children's health care. My wife and I are working very hard to be able to escape from the government run system based on our eight years of experience.
If you really want to reform health care in the USA the real answer is tort reform. Of course socialism will reform the legal system right out of existence. When a drunken government doctor botches a minor procedure and kills your wife, your recourse will consist of shutting up and going back to work. How can any thinking, free man want that.
You have a lot of nerve in the first place. You've been in this country for what, 3 maybe 4 years? Go home to the UK. Of course our system seems wrong to you, you're a socialist. You can't help it, you were raised to look to the government for everything. It's a real pity actually.
I will not be a thrall.

my girlfriend wants to move to Canada (in the future) and I wanted no part of it untill I saw that movie. It was a real eye opener, even if biased.
I would consider it as an option, for retirement.
Who knows what our own senior years will be like. I take care of my health, but it's still a crap shoot whether you have some serious illlness or accident, which could be financially devestating.
I can't imagine how much health care will cost in 10-20 years.
With socialized medicine, those fears or worries would not exist.

wow! It does make you sick doesn't it! I saw an answer about this earlier from someone who said "no, the health care system really isn't like the movie sicko in America. Americans can have health care if they want it, they just don't want to work for it"
that was the biggest piece of cr@p i've ever heard! He'll probably be one of the people you see featured in sicko2 one day just for making that stupid statement

I have not watched "Sicko", but I have to say that Mr. Moore is a typical liberal who is Anti-America, Anti-Bush, Anti-War, Anti-Large Corporations, and not to mention is a friend of former president Jimmy Carter who is also Anti-This and that etc.....and who is Anti-Semitic. Where do these liberals come from anyway? Plus, if Mr. Moore doesn't like America and is full of criticism, why in the heck is he still living in the USA?? I just don't get it. He needs to move away and take Pelosi, Hillary, Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, and all the others who are totally Anti-Everything.
I know you will not choose my answer because I don't stand for Mr. Moore and the rest of the gang, but I am satisfied with the health care that I have. People like Hillary are using the Children's Health and using children just to win some votes. Sad isn't it? Who knows, my answer will probably get deleted because I spoke against Hillary once again. My Freedom of Speech!

Michael Moore exagerates, he cuts and slices film to make it appear people are saying things they're not, he flat out lies, and he resides in the good ol' USA. Why, if he thinks it's so bad here, doesn't HE move to Canada? Or even Cuba? Because he knows he's got it good. Especially when it's so easy to pull the wool over gullible peoples eyes.
