im 25 weeks pregnant and i get realy sharp ripping like pains under my right breast above my ribs. it is extremely bad at night. i cant sleep at all. my doc tried to tell me it is heartburn but it isnt. cause i eat tums like candy and if i move a certain way or take a deep breath it will trigger the pain. if you push on the spot even when it isnt hurting it is realy sore. i get it alot during the day it is just unbeliveably bad at night for some reason or when i lay down. what is this and what can i do to stop it?

I'd say its your organs and baby pushing upward on your body. Usually laying down makes it worse as when you are upright everything goes with gravity. I used to get this with my second because he was laying with his butt right at the top, under my boobs. There really wasn't much I could do about it until his head engaged and gave me room again between the top of my belly and my boobs. I did find taking the odd paracetamol and warm wheat/heat bags on the area made it better for a while. It only lasted till about 35 weeks give or take from what I can remember of when he engaged in my pelvis.

hang in there, it will get better and try sleeping with some big pillows behind you and if you are on your side put some behind your back to. Take paracetamol if its really bad and try using the heat packs or get a hand towel/small towel and make it damp, throw it in the microwave for a minute or two and lay that across. Hot showers helped too.

Good luck
