I mean relatively upscale places? I like to every now and then but occasionally I run into a b1tchy waitress who ignores me because I'm alone. Do you run into this problem?

My dad travels a lot for work and he dines in a lot of upscale places by himself. His usual complaints with them are much the same as yours that every so often he'll run into a place where the service is more concerned with the couples than the single people. We think it might be because they think couples will tip better than the guy or girl sitting by them self actually waiting for the good service that they expect from places like that.

Yeah, i've done it several times. And its always been a wonderful experience. You see, going to some places alone gives you the opportunity to explore, to do things you cannot do if you're with someone else.

Of course there are people or waitresses maybe who will ignore you, not because you are alone but maybe for some other reasons. But if you know how to handle the situation, you can turn it around.

I have actually dated 2 nice waitresses.

I haven't run into people being rude because I'm alone but I don't particularly like eating alone. One of the best parts of being in a restaurant is catching up on the day or whatever with someone. When I'm on a business trip alone I'll tend to eat at fast food places just to avoid sitting at a table by myself.

I love to dine alone on occasion, I also find that I don't get as good service and sometimes even strange looks and unwelcome comments, as if they feel sorry for me. I think they feel they aren't going to get as big of a tip from one person, but if I get real good service when I am alone I am more likely to be more generous. To me a meal out by myself is a treat. As a matter of fact, my husband is away this weekend and I am getting out of work early so I just might stop somewhere for a late night nosh.

I have never had a problem when dining alone, and I don't mind it at all. I don't always want people knowing what I'm eating or how much.

I do but I don't like the looks l get. It's like people think I am a freak or a criminal. It's completely harmless but we just live in a weird society where people get involved in everyone else's business and can't just mind their own and enjoy themselves.

The benefit of multiple personalities is that one never dines alone.

I prefer not to dine alone but with a companion.
