My doctor prescribed clomid for me and he told me to start using it on the 4th day of my cycle (period) and that i must start having sex on the 7th day for every night. It is not possible for me to have sex every night because i only see my boyfriend once a week. He works at nights while i work at day. Sundays are the only time we have for ourselves. Should I still start the clomid or should i wait? Is it a must for having sex everynight for clomid to work or is not a must?

I wouldn't think that it is a "requirement" but it would certainly increase your chances of conceiving. Just ask your doctor if it would still be worthwhile for you to take the drug.

Maybe it's none of my business, but if spend so little time together why are you trying to have a baby? And if you are only have sex 3-4 times a month, maybe that is the reason you have not conceived to date.

The Clomid makes you ovulate but the day that ovulation will occur is not predictable -- it will happen sometime between the 7th and 14th day of your cycle. You need to have sex a day or two before ovulation in order to get pregnant.

So it's not a question of whether the Clomid :"works" -- if it works perfectly by making your ovulate somewhere between day 7 and day 14, you can't get pregnant if you don't have sex.

Taking the medication as directed is more important than daily sex - it is designed to support and coordinate your ovulation cycle. The more often you attempt conception the better your chances of success, but for most women the peak chance is day 16 of your cycle. At only once per week you may miss your peak chance; but every other day is almost as good as daily. Maybe you can arrange quick visits at some point during the week; if you're successful you're going to have messed up sleep schedules anyway. Good luck!

Infertility can be caused by a huge number of factors: hormone imbalance, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Endometriosis, Anovulatory Cycles, physical blockage, inadequate hormone production, short luteal phase, lack of lutenizing hormone, high levels or prolactin, and many others. Poor nutrition often plays a major role, as does exposure to toxins. Age plays less of a role before menopause than was originally thought. While there are many wonderful naturally minded fertility specialists out there, in many cases it is not possible for them to test for and address any of these possible underlying issues.
