No. I'm glad that I wasn't allowed to vote when I was 16 because I still needed some time to grow up and open my eyes. If I could have voted, it probably would have been for Ralph Nader in 2000, just because I thought he was cool.. That would have been a huge mistake.

Contrary to what many people claim, 16 is not always too young to vote. There are alot of people much older than 16 who aren't quite so well educated or mature enough to vote, even though they're entitled to. Now judging by your last statements about "equality and ridding the world of capitalism, etc" that you're making it obvious that you're NOT one of the few 16 year olds ready to vote. I reccomend you thoroughly look into many forms of political sides and systems, and perhaps experience a socialist society before you praise it. I can tell you from my very own personal experience in the modernized and well developed socialist country of my family that capitalism really is the best way to go.

I do recall feeling similar about the voting deal when I was young. I told my government teacher that there should be a test for 17 year olds within the presidential election year proving they know the government and political knowledge necessary for [now 2008]. But the test would also need a way to prove you've studied both conservative and liberal politics, as well as modern day issues, American gov. history, and some knowledge of macroeconomics (by the way, once you take macro, your view on capitalism will completely change).

What would really make me mad is if I where less than a year shy of the election even tough at 17 I was paying taxes.

Sure, why not? Why stop there? I think they should make it a law that as soon as infants can speak one word, they're allowed to vote. Hell, half the voters in this country are drooling retards with no jobs who sleep all day and crap their pants, just like infants. What an injustice and discrimination against the babies of America!
Kid, you haven't seen anything, done anything, or been through anything to qualify as a person who has actual opinions of their own. Living with mommy and daddy and working at McDonalds part time does not qualify as "life experience".
I think we need to raise the voting age to 30, along with the driving age.

So you want to"get rid of capitalism and instead enforce equality"?
That sure does sound a lot like COMMUNISM and SOCIALISM.

Why don't you move to North Korea, or China? Come back and tell me if you think those countries are better.
Better yet, why don't you email me when you are 27 and let's see if you still want the voting age to be lowered to 16.

I honestly think we should change voting age to 16. Were old enough to pay taxes, to breathe the air that goverment industries pollute. Theres many mature teenagers out there that are way more responsible than some drunk, low life adult. And do u honestly think we will care bout politics after 18 years of our life being told that were dum and our opinion has no value.. i dont think so! We take civics class. i thinks we know how important voting is and we are sure to take it seriously!!

I don't even think teenagers should drive until they get 18. I was 20 when I got my license. I was ready for the responsibility at that age.

Richard Nixon lowered the voting age to 18. I think 18 is the perfect age, because you would have finished High School and are ready for increased responsibility.

16 is too immature and lack the education that should be require to vote. Just from your remarks I can tell you are not ready to vote. In fact the age need to be raised to 25 but that will not happen. The Left depend too much on young uninformed voters.

Because many 18 year olds are too immature to vote, and 16 year olds are much more immature than 18 year olds.

Why shouldn't you be allowed to vote? Because you're too young.

As for you wanting to make immigration policies less strict, here's an interesting video:

personally i don't think age should be the determining factor of whether or not a person can vote.

i think a civil service/knowledge exam should have to be passed. if you can pass it at the age of 10, you get to vote. if you can't at the age of 30....no vote for you.

people should have to prove their understanding of government, checks and balances, have knowledge of the meaning and context of the constitution, and have at least some acquaintance with landmark supreme court decisions.

everyone is different. it is unfair to hold everyone to the same standard. some people mature faster and/or are more intelligent than others, and should be rewarded or penalized as the case may be. that's just my opinion.

Are you really that fascinated with politics? Most grade school children like yourself are not.
It was already changed from 21 to 18 with the ratification of the 26th Amendment. We'd need a good reason to change it once more.
