Historically, Communism has failed. Communism isn't even used in the way it was intended to be used. The way it is SUPPOSED to be is what we now call Socialism (AKA Free Public Services with high taxes).

I believe it is a bad thing for a teacher to take sides and say whats bad and whats good. A teacher's job is to explain things without taking sides and allow the student to figure out what's right and what's wrong.
Communism is not necessarily a bad setup. The only reason people believe communism is bad is because those countries who were Communists were our enemies. It's difficult to have a fair opinion about things when there is so many harsh words and even harsher feelings. Why do you think that Middle Eastern countries despise democracy? It's not because of how it's setup or what it stands for but rather because of the feelings for it's people.

because it really has never worked super successfully. the idea itself is brilliant, but the human race is so corrupt and greedy in the end it doesnt work. also, the united states has fought visciously against the communisits in russia and cuba mostly. we lost thousands of men. also, communism often oppresses the people that it touches

Your teacher must have come from the Balkans. People always talk based on their own experiences. I don't think Communism is bad. It all depends on how people interpret things & put them into practice.
