I don't know if anything like this exists but I think it would be an awesome idea!
So here is how I thought of it...
I was heading over to my Mom's and my little one was asleep in her car seat. Now that the weather is colder and it was 2 degrees Celsius outside I had to put her in her snowsuit thing. Which means actually picking her up and dressing her in it, which of course woke her up!
Then I thought if only there was something that is like half a snowsuit? Something that only covered the front of her- arms, legs, belly. Then I wouldn't have to pick her up, I could just slip it on the front of her and buckle her in, throw a blanket over her and she could still be sleeping!
Does anyone know if something like this exists?
If not I am considering making one for her!

I have a car seat cover but it doesn't seem to fit properly. Plus it doesn't feel right to have her just in a long sleeved shirt and the cover over top...it just doesn't seem warm enough...maybe I should just try it I guess...

Blankets won't work because she hates to have them over her arms...plus to put them tucked around her legs, she manages to untuck them too!
I did the blanket thing when it first started to get cool but we have some fierce fall winds and needless too say I had to chase one down!

At the risk of sounding like a smartass, they're called blankets. Car seat covers are OK, but blankets can do this job and more. If you know what you're doing, you can even swaddle your baby in the car seat. They say that the snowsuits interfere with the fit of the car seat straps, so it's preferable to use blankets to keep baby warm.

To keep baby wrapped up in the car seat, fold the blanket on a diagonal so it makes a thin, long strip. Lay it down under baby's back in the car seat. Buckle baby in, then wrap the blanket tightly around baby's arms and tuck well. If she's sleeping, just tuck the blanket around her. Throw a couple more blankets over her legs, body and head. Use your keychain, wallet, older child's sippy cup (if applicable) or anything handy to weigh the blanket down so it does not blow away. Use crocheted blankets that will not blow away.

You can also buy a lightweight car seat cover (they don't fit very well at all) and use blankets inside it on colder days.

Please do not put ANYTHING on your carseat that wasn't made with it. It can change the safety of it and your precious baby could die in a carcrash if you were in a bad one.

You can put a coat on her backwards, and then just wrap a blanket around here. I think that would be fine. It's not safe to put a snowsuit on under the carseat anways. Much, MUCH safer to get a blanket and keep the entire carseat covered in between the house and car, and then just uncover her sweet little face when you put her in.

I don't mean to scare you, but so many precious children are killed every year because of improper carseat usage, and I don't want your little one to be one of them.

Those bundle me things are actually REALLY unsafe, they put too much room between Baby and carseat straps so the straps aren't tight enough. In an accident the baby will be thrown around since the straps are too loose, the bundle me will just compress.

A better bet would be getting one of those things that go OVER the carseat. They are on the outside. They keep the baby nice and warm and are safe.

HTH!

There are books, and flicks, and recordings, and persons older than me. You, on the different hand, have no longer something yet ONE e book that starts out "and then the snake began conversing..." further info "ok, so basically for the reason which you weren't there to witness it it nonetheless befell?" "WHAT" nonetheless befell? Are you conversing approximately something stupid, like, Frodo finishing the third Age by employing dropping a hoop right into a Volcano, or some Magical Fairy waving a wand and coming up a "Moon as a gentle bulb"? Or something for which there is information, like, slavery interior the 1600's? "Can information tutor something that has for the reason that disappeared, regardless of if it as quickly as did exist?" i'm assuming you have heard of fossils. in spite of the undeniable fact that, from this question, i would be offering you with too lots credit.

Here's the car seat cover we had: http://www.amazon.com/Kiddopotamus-Co-CozyUp-Carrier-Cover/dp/B000DZUCDC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/002-5098180-5193649?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1194662564&sr=8-2
I loved it so much that I always give a car seat cover as a baby gift if the baby will be in an infant carrier car seat during the cold months.

Edit, after reading your not sure if its warm enough comment:
The one that I had got very warm inside, and it was windproof too so even though it was not bulky is performed extremely well. I'm glad that you know not to add extra layers under the straps, that decreases the effectiveness of the seat in a wreck.

It's called a car seat cover. Just put baby in the car seat, buckle her in, put the blankie on and then slip the cover over her seat. She's stays warm and toasty going back and forth from house to car and while the vehicle warms up and you don't have to wake her up to put extra clothes on her.

I don't think they have exactly that but here's what they do have... it's a snuggly thing that goes in the infant carseat. You set the baby on top of it, zip it up and buckle the baby in. It's just as warm as a winter coat and no struggling with trying to leave baby sleeping while undressing her. They have themat all major store, like Wal-Mart and Babies r Us.

This is a close as I could find. You could just lay it her carseat and then put her in it. I know I have seen them at Toys R Us.

would be better if it was all part of the carseat so the baby is contained and keeping in the body heat .
