That show is really dependent on the performers bringing their own energy and personality to the roles. I have seen Godspell done several different ways. It probably is not going to be interpreted and performed in exactly the same way today as it was when conceived (a sort of flower child feeling). If you have a good relationship with the director, you might ask about his/her vision of the show to get an idea. Study up on the New Testament a bit, and know the song backwards and forwards. Beautiful song, break a leg.

I played that part! (well, sort of, my directer changed it up a bit.....but I sang Bless the Lord in my production of Godspell). great choice....best song in the musical in my opinion....The thing about that song is it's basically the toughest one, in vocal power. So pick a powerful audition song that has a kind of Gospely sound. I sang 'I see a River' From Urinetown. Break a leg! I hope you get it!

No, yet I rather have accomplished in Carousel, Oklahoma, The Fantasticks and Charlotte's information superhighway. Of the 4, merely Carousel became a intense college production. The others have been community theater.

The character has been supplied by the playwright. All you have to do is react to the things that make her say what she says by saying the lines with energy and enthusiasm! Break a leg.
