If you really want to get into collecting there is a lot you can do. Most serious collectors set more specific goal. For example, things for one or two particular movies or one particular. For example, for the lion king you can buy movie posters, figurines, collectible items and even original production cells (the artwork that the photographed when making the movie).

Having said that, you should collect things that you like and are interested in. What you choose to collect may also depend on how much money or space you have.

Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of quarters or half dollars are $500. You don't have to buy the whole box. The bank can pull out whatever amount you like.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin album and try to fill all the holes (get one for each year) or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same coins over and over). Everything you find will have been obtained at face value. You'd be surprised what people have found. Check out these links to see:

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, coins with the "S" mintmark - it could be a proof coin etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

It's also helpful to buy a red book. It can help you price your coins and will answer many of the questions you may have.

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

I think you should talk to your parents n see if they will take you to Disney world or Disneyland to get your ideas started..

Maybe you could look at nice correctable Disney plates. They don't take up room if you mount a plate rack on the wall.

Maybe, department 56 store and get an idea there. They have some GREAT things.

Christmas ornament's. A great collection if they are hand blown by a well known artist and they will value as they age...

I have collected glassware, tea sets(department 56),ornaments. A collection makes gift buying easier for people too.

Instead of collecting a specific figurine, how about only Disney Banks or Disney Bells or Disney Music Boxes?

You could collect banknotes (world paper money), because that's what I collect and that gives me a lot of satisfaction as I can enjoy the educational benefits of worldwide currency banknotes, and also exchange or trade them with collectors, buy them from dealers (sometimes) or from shops and I can also sell them decades later for more money to other collectors or even to investors. I have a collection of 17 thousand + different world banknotes and I am still adding more to it. I used to collect stamps, but I find larger-than-stamps banknotes to be more rewarding in experience than stamps or postcards.
