If this helps.
If Texas was flipped North to South, the Panhandle would be in Mexico City.
If flipped from South to North, Nueva Laredo would be in Canada,
If flipped from West to East, El Paso would be in the Atlantic Ocean.
If flipped from East to West, Orange, TX. would be in the Pacific Ocean.

Texas is 1,000 miles East to West.
Mexico City is 1,000 miles from South Texas.

Give you some idea?

If the earth is somewhere around 25,000 miles in circumference, then half that would be 12,500 miles? of course if you're talking diameter, then that's much different...
