strike out, significant other, slimy otters, take your pick. most likely in your context it is significant other. (as opposed to bf, gf, etc.)

Depending on what is being said, it normally stands for "significant other" meaning boyfriend, girlfriend, mate, lover, wife, husband, same sex partner, etc.

To me, it is a mild form of F.U.! I can make statements to my teenagers and be rebuffed with "So". We are no longer allowed to use "so" in my house, because if mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!
