because potheads active certain parts of their brain through the action of smoking. It clears out your frontal lobe of all the bullshit you listen to on TV and on the radio and everywhere else ; )

i'm a pothead. weed doesn't **** you up as much, it just takes you to another level, in my personal opinion. plus, when do you ever really hear of anyone becoming violent from marijuana? stoners are lazy and like to break out the bong and giggle at south park.
personally i feel like i've grown up a lot from being a daily smoker and i feel that i've grown intellectually. i started to question everything when i was 15 and suddenly i developed my own philosophy on life through re-examining everything as if it were new. i know i may sound ridiculous, but i feel like i was turned on to great books, great music, and a great mindset/new consciousness with the help of weed. and even if it is just the drug, i don't see it causing any harm.
also when you develop a tolerance, it relaxes you and lifts your mood instead of making you feel intoxicated. whereas if you were drinking, you would be getting shitfaced and vomiting and passing out every night.

--Pot doesn't cause cancer (you don't have to smoke it to get the effects).
--Pot isn't physically addicting.
--With the new studies, pot doesn't kill braincells. The prevoius study saying it did has been discredited.
--Pot can't kill you
--Many people drive drunk, but most potheads stay on the couch and don't endanger everyone else's lives.
--Pot doesn't get you sick or give a painful hangover
--Pot generally makes you relax, where alcohol often makes people violent
--Pot tastes a lot better than straight Vodka...

I read somewhere pot doesn't disintegrates braincells, alcohol is a brain killer.Besides, weeds are supposed be mind-exploring while alcohol narrows veins, and with that 'starving' the brain.
