ha ha ha I remember when everyone went on strike in the 70s, the army were doing the fire brigade and cleansing jobs, rubish was acumilating in the street the kids were setting off the hyderants, not me though honest, the coal men were on strike and so we had no power and three day week came in to place....we had a coal fire and used to burn bits of wood and the like and make shapes in the wall, ( I meant on the wall, the other would just be off the wall), failing that we passed a candle round and shout stop, who ever had the candle had to start a story for a minute or two and then pass the candle on again until someone shouted stop and who ever had the candle had to pick up the story from where the last person left off. It was great fun and we ended up with really odd stories. We had to give it up asa the weeks went on and we couldn`t find wood for the fire. All my dad could get was lino, which of course contained linseed oil and gave off plumes of smoke.......all the pretty colours made great shapes as we were transported to itchychoo park to feed the ducks and eat some sun burn.......... Not to worry though we should be gettin out soon hee hee hee

That happens alot in the rural area where I live. We make a party out of it, lighting candles, watching the stars, moon, storm advancing w/ lightning and we munch down leftovers. If we know a storm is coming we'll make brownies ahead or popcorn just to get ready for it. In the winter we light the fireplace and roast marshmellows, make smores and tell stories by firelight. I can't wait till the next power outage just thinking about the commradarie, telling jokes, laughing till our sides hurt...

I would be in a happy mood, because where i live has plenty of light and no sky to speak of. It would be good to lose power on a summer night under a moonless night with the stars shinning so bright.

I keep alot of flashlights around, because we're prone to power outages.
But if I didn't have them, I'd sit and think. Seems I always have lots to think about...
