A Haynes manual is a good reference book, one repair using the book and it has paid for itself. The short of the change out; disconnect the negative battery cable, release the serpentine belt tension at the tensioner and slip the belt off the alternator pulley, disconnect all wiring at the alternator, remove all bolts holding the alternator in position and carefully remove alternator from engine compartment. Reverse procedure to install and be sure you have routed the serpentine belt correctly. Good Luck.
