Usually, the first thing I do is read a bit further, try to get some context of what the word might mean. Usually the author has done something that I find explains a word well enough for me to get it. On rare occassions I will turn to the dictionary.

Sometimes I figure out what the words mean by the context of the sentence... but if I don't know it I'll look it up in the dictionary! Same thing with song lyrics.

I look them up as I keep a Dictionary close. But, before looking up any word, I try to define it from the context of the sentence for fun, then look it up.

usually i can get the gist of the word from the context. but if i really have no clue ill look it up.

if its a book full of big and unknown words. ill set it aside for a day when i feel reading the book and most of the dictionary.

I always look it up. If I'm near my computer, I either use the dictionary included with AOL or search it on Microsoft Word. Otherwise, I use a regular dictionary. I feel stupid not knowing what something means, so I have to look it up!

Most often you can come very close to the meaning from the sentence or paragraph where it was found. There are often roots of words found within the word and that is a really good clue to its meaning.

definitely keep a dictionary nearby. The more you know the better. Also do some research on Latin. It will give you a better base for defining the words you read.

When i don't know i word i assume what it means with context clues. If I have no idea what the word means and it is important I whip out an electronic dictionary! Woosh!

just like you i dont look them all up, just some of them. but reading on sometimes helps you to understand what it means. some authors even have the habit of making up their own words so you wont be able to look the words up, but if you kept on reading you would know what it means
